We will be teaching the William H. Harrison classical design studio at the University of Miami in Spring 2021. Studio presentations take place online in November 2020.
Timothy Smith & Jonathan Taylor Architects with Amsterdam-based Hans van der Heijden Architect, have won a place on London Borough of Southwark’s Framework Agreement for Architectural Design Services. We have qualified on Lot 7, an innovative lot which sought “talented, idealistic” new practices for civic and public housing projects.
When launching the framework submission in the Architect’s Journal Leo Pollack, Southwark Council cabinet member for social regeneration said: “We mean to discriminate in favour of those architects who bring full care and consideration to their designs, who will fight for the details that really make a difference to our residents, we want architects whose ideals are intact.”
We visited Palm Beach, Florida for the Addison Mizner Awards ceremony hosted by the Institute of Classical Art and Architecture. Jonathan was a juror for the awards in November.

Jonathan has been invited to judge the Addison Mizner awards for the ICAA in Palm Beach, Florida.
We will present a lecture on the work of the practice and how we came to work the way we do at AHO Oslo Architecture School on 25th November 2019.

The practice has designed and constructed two monumental temporary cocktail bars in the Orangery of the Queen’s House Greenwich as part of Metamorphoses: Classical Currents in Contemporary Practice, organised jointly between the Architecture Foundation and Old Royal Naval College. We were also exhibitions co-curators, showing work by our Kingston students and students of the Buckingham University Summer School.

For 2016-17 our postgraduate design Unit 6 at Kingston University is entitled ‘Relief’ and will focus on the exploration of facades and the language of classical architecture.
We visited Berlin to meet with the architect Paul Kahlfeldt to discuss the practice of classical architecture and to visit some of his works. Paul generously gave his time and presented to us the exhibition and site for the Werkbundstadt Berlin housing project.

We have been shortlisted in the competition to find an architect for the redevelopment of Byron House, the west London home of the Institute of Psychoanalysis. The shortlist was selected through an open competition organised by the Architecture Foundation.
The Institute was founded in 1924 by a colleague of Freud’s and has an ambitious strategy for growth. The project involves the refurbishment of consulting rooms and their archive, and the redevelopment of their main lecture room and reception area.
