Bakery Conversion

Mixed use conversion, London

This project gained planning permission in 2019 after a long application process for this sensitive site in Stoke Newington. The existing disused bakery and associated shop and flat will be extended and converted to provide a new 3-bedroom house, 3-bedroom maisonette and 1-bedroom flat, all with their own entrances from the street. The commercial unit will be retained.

We worked closely with the structural engineer to retain as much structure and built fabric as possible. New construction is concentrated at the North of the site where it forms the new house, accessed from the site road through a new 3-storey elevation in brick and precast concrete, with a pyramidal pier marking the entrance to the house, inspired by archaic classical forms.

Completion March 2020.
