In collaboration with ARCHEA
This project first gained planning permission in 2003 to a design by Prewitt Bizley Architects. Early in 2011 the design was slightly altered by them and re-submitted for planning approval as the site was now in a designated Conservation Area. We were asked to take the project through detailed design and tender to completion in late 2012. The new house replaces a small workshop and will provide the client with a 4 bedroom dwelling with a double height living area and external terraces.
Externally the building is finished in white masonry with bronze anodised aluminium composite windows and a zinc-clad top floor. Internally the design revolves around the reinterpretation of basic practical materials such as exposed blockwork, MDF and concrete pavers used on the ground floor.
