We were approached by a gallerist to make proposals for a new gallery of contemporary art in the West End of London. To make the most of a limited budget, a simple stripping-back of past accretions and additions was proposed. The existing building has a number of interesting textures and materials, including white glazed bricks, currently largely hidden. The proposals selectively expose these, while still providing a sufficiently neutral backdrop for the display of art.
