Conversion of 1960s industrial building
London

In collaboration with Michel Schranz

This project involves the conversion and refurbishment of a half-derelict but robust 33,000sqft industrial building constructed in the 1960s in inner London. It will provide the client with a performance venue, bar/cafe, many lettable studio office units and a small number of residential studios. Our design approach has been almost one of conservation - as if of a building which has not yet existed. Our aim is that, when complete, the project has the feel of a simple upgrade, rather than wholesale conversion; as if the building had been constructed with the proposed programme in the 1960s and that its real industrial history is only imagined.

The project is due for completion in Spring 2012.
